A partnership between Promethean and ARHT gave Fox 26’s Sally McDonald a real chance to interview a virtual person

Ron Clark, Disney’s American Teacher of the Year in 2000 and creator of the Ron Clark Academy, shared his best practices for getting the most out of challenging and hard-to-reach students during his session at the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s Rigor, Relevance and Relationships (RRR) Conference on June 9, 2016. To put a futuristic spin on the event, Clark appeared at the conference as a HumaGramTM, a 3D human hologram.

The RRR conference marked the first time augmented holographic technology has been used to deliver teacher and administrator training in an educational setting. Sally MacDonald of the Fox 26 Houston Morning Show was there to cover the event, and conducted a live interview with Dr. Linda Macias, the assistant superintendent of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.

“The audience is used to seeing a live speaker, but attendees were reacting to the speaker like he was live,” said Dr. Macias. “The audience was engaged, clapping, they were energized by it. We hope this presentation sparks different ideas on how technology can enhance instruction in the classroom.”

Promethean and ARHT Media Inc. joined forces to to make the HumaGram presentations a reality at the conference. “I’m so thankful to Promethean for joining in this partnership with us and allowing us to experience this and provide this virtual reality experience for our leaders,” Dr. Macias said.
